The Wrekin is perhaps Shropshire’s best known landmark, a legendary hill that dominates the landscape around central Shropshire.. From the top you can see fifteen counties and dominates the view of the local market town of Wellington.
Shropshire is a truly diverse county in terms of landscape. In the central and eastern area near the Wrekin are the towns of Shrewsbury and Much Wenlock. Crucially this is where you’ll find Ironbridge a town named after the world’s first iron bridge spanning the River Severn. Birth place of the industrial revolution, Ironbridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
To the south are the Shropshire Hills and the picturesque towns of Bishop’s Castle, and Ludlow. In the north are the meres and mosses around Ellesmere, and the border country above Oswestry.
